Hi, I’m Kyla!

I’m a 24-year-old aspiring fantasy author having the time of my life editing my debut novel. I’ve always loved writing, and in recent years I decided that sharing my stories is something I want more than I fear.

I’m also a wife to a man who treats me better than any book boyfriend ever could, a blessed sister and daughter, and a super lucky friend to many amazing people (both in “real life” and on the ‘Gram).

Since November of 2023, I have been editing/rewriting my labor of love…AKA my debut novel. This is a story that first grew roots in October 2017, when I was talking to a beloved mentor about Romeo and Juliet. Since then, it’s slowly grown legs and walked and sprinted and is now far from a R+J retelling, which was what it was meant to be. The characters led me down a different path, and I wouldn’t have it any other way.

It’s about a boy and a girl who love each other despite all the reasons they can’t be together. It’s about love worth fighting for, family that’s found, and a star who harbors secrets.

I’m working hard to get it edited and polished so I can share it with you someday!
